Thank you for using Text to Handwriting Converter AI ("HandwriteAI", "the App", "we", "us", "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our mobile application.

1. Information We Collect and Process

To provide and secure the core functionality of converting digital text into a handwritten style, the App collects and processes the following information:

• User-Provided Text: The text content you type or paste into the App's editor. This data is sent to our backend server for processing.
• Handwriting Settings: The configuration options you select within the App, including chosen font, font size, color, line height, letter spacing, paragraph spacing, paper background, desk background, language settings, and selected effects (blur, shading, texture, shadow, rotation, margins, randomizations, etc.). This data is sent to our backend server along with your text for processing.
• Device-Derived Identifier (API Key): To secure communication with our backend server and prevent abuse, the App generates a unique, anonymized identifier derived from your device's characteristics. This identifier (referred to as an API Key) is sent to our backend server with each request. It is not used to personally identify you or track you across other apps or services.
• App Interaction Data (Local): For features such as prompting for app reviews at appropriate times, the App may store data locally on your device, such as the number of times content has been generated. This data is not transmitted off your device by us for this purpose.

2. Purpose of Collection and Processing

We collect and process the above information solely for the following purposes:

• User-Provided Text and Handwriting Settings:
  • Generating the handwritten document images and/or PDF files according to your specifications via our backend server.
  • Displaying the text and applying formatting within the App's rich text editor interface.
• Device-Derived Identifier (API Key):
  • Authenticating requests to our backend server.
  • Protecting our service from misuse and ensuring its stability (e.g., for rate limiting).
• App Interaction Data (Local):
  • To enhance user experience, for example, by managing when to request an app review.

3. Data Processing, Storage, and Retention

• Backend Processing and Retention: When you initiate the "Convert to Handwriting" action, the User-Provided Text, your selected Handwriting Settings, and the Device-Derived Identifier are securely transmitted (using standard HTTPS encryption) to our backend server for processing.
  • Ephemeral Processing: Your User-Provided Text and Handwriting Settings are processed ephemerally on our backend. This means they are used in real-time to generate the output and are not stored persistently on our servers after the generation process is complete. We may cache this data temporarily solely for the purpose of optimizing the speed and efficiency of the current processing request.
  • The Device-Derived Identifier is used to validate the request and for security logging, which may be retained for a limited period as necessary for security and operational integrity.
• Generated Output: The generated image/PDF file is sent back to your device for you to view and optionally save. We do not store a copy of your generated output files on our servers.
• Local Storage: The App may store your most recent text content and settings locally on your device for your convenience (e.g., to resume editing). The locally stored App Interaction Data (for review prompts) also resides on your device. This data remains on your device unless you clear it or uninstall the App.

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your User-Provided Text, Handwriting Settings, or Device-Derived Identifier to outside parties for their own marketing or analytics purposes.

• Our Backend Server: As described above, necessary data is sent to our backend server (operated by us) solely for the processing required for app functionality and security.
• No Third-Party Sharing of Core Data: We do not share your User-Provided Text or Handwriting Settings with any third-party analytics, advertising, or data brokers.

5. Crash Logs and Diagnostics

To maintain and improve the stability and performance of the App, standard diagnostic information and crash logs may be collected by the mobile operating system provider (e.g., Google for Android, Apple for iOS) and/or by development platform services (e.g., Expo). This data is typically anonymized or aggregated and is used to identify and resolve bugs, crashes, and performance issues. This data collection is generally governed by the privacy policies of these respective platform providers.

6. Security

We implement reasonable security measures (including HTTPS for data transmission) to protect the information during its collection and temporary processing on our backend. The Device-Derived Identifier helps us secure our API. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure.

7. Children's Privacy

Our App is not intended for use by children under the age of 13 (or the relevant age of consent in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected such information, we will take steps to delete it.

8. Your Consent

By using our App, you consent to the collection and processing of your information as described in this Privacy Policy.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy within the App or on our website (https://handwriteai.app), and we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this Privacy Policy. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes are effective when they are posted.
